Sustainability reporting
Double materiality
Published Reviewed
Double materiality is the CSRD principle that a sustainability topic must be reported when it is material from either of two directions: the company’s impact on people and the environment (impact materiality), or the topic’s effect on the company’s own financial position (financial materiality). A topic qualifies if it passes either test, not only both. The double materiality assessment decides which ESRS disclosures a company must include in its sustainability statement.
