Early warning (24-hour incident notification)

An early warning is the first notification an entity in scope of NIS2 must send its CSIRT or supervisory authority within 24 hours of becoming aware of a significant incident. It states whether the incident is suspected to be malicious and whether it may have cross-border impact. A fuller incident notification follows within 72 hours and a final report within a month — three separate clocks that an incident process must be built around.
