Embedded emissions (CBAM)

Published Reviewed

Embedded emissions are the greenhouse gas emissions released in producing a good imported into the EU — the quantity the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism prices. Importers of covered goods such as iron, steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, electricity, and hydrogen must report the embedded emissions of their imports based on installation-level data from producers, with default values available only within limits.
