Certification audit

A certification audit is the independent examination by an accredited certification body that decides whether an organisation’s management system conforms to a standard such as ISO 27001 or ISO 9001. It runs in two stages — documentation readiness, then implementation in practice — and results in a certificate valid for three years, maintained through annual surveillance audits and a recertification audit at the end of the cycle.
