High-risk AI system

A high-risk AI system is one the EU AI Act places in its most heavily regulated permitted category — AI used as a safety component of regulated products or deployed in sensitive areas listed in Annex III, such as recruitment, credit scoring, education, and essential services. Providers must implement risk management, data governance, technical documentation, human oversight, and conformity assessment before the system reaches the market; deployers carry their own use obligations.
